The Dream

The design came to our Chief Dream Officer IB and he immediately made a model of the speaker using match sticks and paper so as not to forget it.

First Launch

After 4 years of working on the initial dream design, we did our first launch at Hyatt Regency Hotel, Delhi and got a good response. We didn't sell any units because the sub-woofers that we were using at that time were very in-efficient and to add to that had a bit of a humming sound, which was totally unacceptable to us.

Life Happens

Not being able to get the right sub-woofer+Amp combination, IB's interest in his dream speaker which he had named being inspired by Bose as PADX-I (Psycho acoustic Deluxe-I), he moved on to software and wrote software and launched ventures such as Baba Bazaar (India's 1st E-Commerce Website in 1998) and Sanjay-GPS (India's 1st GPS based navigation system in 2001) none of which really picked up as they were way ahead of their times. However, he got a foothold in the telecom industry and supplied software to the major telecom operators.

After a huge gap

That year, IB was hosting a few guests who casually asked him what was his first love in life was and he said speakers. When they asked what kind of speakers he had no answer, so he asked them to join him for dinner after a week. In that short time, he gathered whatever components he could and made a basic working model of what we now know as 741 DREAM. The guests were so impressed that they told IB he should definitely pursue a career in speakers, and so the research began again.

The pursuit

Years passed and IB made 100s of different kind of speaker enclosures to get that reference sound that he carried in his head, but wasn't satisfied with what he was making.

EGG & CAPSICUM Speaker

IB just wanted to let people listen to the signature sound his speakers had. To do that, he made a small powered stereo bar speaker which he named EGG & CAPSICUM (This was later introduced as 741 TASTER, not to be confused with 741 TASTER II).

But soon after, COVID came and then the research and the pace of pursuit was reduced considerably.

A chance meet

While at a breakfast in a hotel in Hyderabad IB saw a few renowned musicians also having breakfast there and he approached one of them just to tell what a big fan of him he was. There he got into a conversation with another renowned musician (names not mentioned here as we didn't take permission) and he got interested in what IB does and asked him to give him a demo.

Encouraged by this conversation, IB started working on his dream project at an even faster pace.

741 Launched at NCPA, Mumbai

And after decades of pursuit, IB managed to launch his speakers at The Experimental Theatre, NCPA, Mumbai and decided to go by the brand name 741, an angel number, that he kept seeing over the years.

741 Brand Song

Since 741 is ultimately a brand that plans to cater to music lovers and musicians, we thought it would be a great idea to commission a Brand Song that would convey that passion we have for music, specially the magic in music, and so the song "741 - This is magic" was conceived.

What Hi-Fi? Show 2024, Mumbai

We then showcased our speakers at the What Hi-Fi Show in Mumbai to get feedback from Audiophiles and see how we could further improve them. The response was outstanding and helped us improve the design, sound and the presentation even further.

What Hi-Fi? Show 2024, Hyderabad

After implementing the feedback and response that we got at the What hi-Fi Show, Mumbai, we decided to participate in the Hyderabad show as title sponsors and had setup the 741 speakers the way IB always had imagined and they sounded nothing short of magic.

TASTER, ELEMENTS and the birth of DREAM

While the sound was amazing, we realized the speaker setup was too elaborate to setup and only someone with the right amount of space (at least 625sq feet), money and patience would want to go buy a 741 speaker.

That's when we decided to make something more compact that would carry our signature sound, and yet be relatively affordable, and so we came up with the TASTER and ELEMENTS line. And to ensure the original speakers that started 741 don't get mixed we decided to call them DREAM.

The pursuit of THAT SOUND is on...

We are working on further perfecting, enhancing and setting up the processes to produce and present the 741 DREAM Inspired Immersive Speakers in such a way that they be remembered till time immemorial.

A star is born and finds its place in history!

We hope to unveil the final iteration of the 741 DREAM Inspired Immersive Speakers and go on sale by end of next year. How much they are going to cost, we don't know, but definitely it would be upwards of USD50,000. Wish us luck and we look forward to having you listen to them when they are ready. Thank you!
